The
509th Composite Group was created to plan and execute the
deployment of the first atomic bomb. Gen. Paul Tibbets headed up that
group and flew a B-29 named The Enola Gay in August 1945 and completed the
mission that many feel brought a quick end to World War II.

In Memory of Charles Donald Albury, October 12, 1920- May 23,
2009. Airplane Commander, Crew C-15 B29 "The Great Artiste" and Co-Pilot
Hiroshima Instrument Plane "The Great Artiste" August 6, 1945, Co-Pilot
Strike Plane B29 "Bockscar" August 9, 1945 last surviving Crewmember to
have seen both Atomic Bombs.
